When to use which

Use Smart Planner when:

  • You want a modern, streamlined booking experience for end consumers.

  • Your templates are multi-stop or flex with standard hotel/flight/activity components.

  • You want recommendation-driven browsing with drawers.

  • You're launching a new B2C channel and want the fastest path to booking.

Use Legacy Planner when:

  • You need access to advanced features like ad-hoc components, manual pricing, or PNR import.

  • Your templates include multi-centre itineraries.

  • Travel agents require full control over every aspect of the itinerary.

  • You have specialized supplier tools or workflows that depend on the legacy interface.

Use both (with Expert Mode) when:

  • B2B agents benefit from the Smart Planner overview but occasionally need Legacy Planner for advanced operations.

  • You're in a transition phase and want to let agents choose their preferred experience.

Feature maturity levels

Smart Planner features follow a maturity scale from Level 1 (basic display) to Level 7 (smart algorithmic recommendations):

  • Level 1: Component displayed, but selection requires Legacy Planner.

  • Level 2: Can select recommended items directly in Smart Planner.

  • Level 3: Can browse more recommendations via drawers.

  • Level 4: Can upgrade items within Smart Planner.

  • Level 5: Can change items entirely within Smart Planner.

  • Level 6: Built-in filters for search.

  • Level 7: Smart algorithmic recommendations.

Hotels are currently the most mature (Level 6), with transfers, activities, and rental cars progressing through these levels in upcoming releases., but at least at level 5.
