Smart Planner with Dynamic Packaging

Integrate Smart Planner with Dynamic Packaging for real-time package customization

What is Dynamic Packaging?

Dynamic Packaging combines flight and hotel inventory in real-time to create package deals. Unlike template-based trips where components are pre-configured, DynPack trips are assembled on-the-fly from live supplier availability. This means pricing and availability reflect real-time market conditions.

How the redirect works

The typical DynPack → Smart Planner flow is:

  1. Customer browses DynPack offers — on the Discovery page or DynPack calendar, the customer selects a destination, dates, and sees available packages with pricing.

  2. Customer selects a package — clicking on a DynPack offer triggers a redirect to Smart Planner.

  3. Smart Planner loads the itinerary — the selected flights and hotel from the DynPack offer are pre-populated in Smart Planner as the starting point.

  4. Customer customizes — the customer can browse hotel alternatives, add activities, select transfers, and make other changes within Smart Planner.

  5. Customer proceeds to checkout — once satisfied, the customer moves to checkout from Smart Planner.

Cached vs. live supply

There are two DynPack redirect scenarios:

Cached supply (standard DynPack redirect): The DynPack calendar shows pre-cached pricing. When the customer clicks through to Smart Planner, the itinerary is built from cached data. This is faster but the pricing shown may differ slightly from real-time availability.

Live supply (non-cached redirect): For certain configurations, the redirect triggers a live availability check. This ensures the pricing in Smart Planner exactly matches current supplier rates. The trade-off is a slightly longer loading time as live searches are performed.

The behavior depends on your DynPack configuration and supplier setup. Consult your Nezasa contact for details on which mode is active for your channels.

Configuration

To enable the DynPack → Smart Planner redirect:

  1. Enable Smart Planner on the relevant Distribution Channel (see How to Activate Smart Planner).

  2. Enable Dynamic Packaging under Settings → DC → Discovery → Itinerary Creation Options → Dynamic Packaging.

  3. Ensure your DynPack-compatible templates and supplier integrations are active.

The redirect is automatic — once both DynPack and Smart Planner are enabled on the DC, DynPack selections will open in Smart Planner.

What users can change in a DynPack itinerary

Within Smart Planner, users can modify a DynPack itinerary similarly to a template-based one:

  • Change hotel — browse alternatives via the hotel drawer.

  • Upgrade room — select a higher room category.

  • Add activities — browse and select activities for each stop.

  • Select transfers — choose ground transport.

  • Change flights — search for alternative flights (may trigger repricing of the package).

Note that changing core components (especially flights) in a DynPack itinerary may trigger a full re-pricing of the package since DynPack pricing is interdependent.

Limitations

  • The Expert Mode toggle (switch to Legacy Planner) is generally not available for DynPack redirects, since the DynPack flow is tightly coupled to Smart Planner.

  • Not all DynPack configurations support all Smart Planner features. For example, adding/removing stops may not be available for DynPack itineraries.

  • Pricing updates may take a moment when modifying core components due to live re-pricing.
