A test booking lets you check the whole booking flow in TripBuilder, from planning a trip to the confirmation and cancellation, before your travellers or agents use it. Use the staging environment whenever you can, and only book on production when you need to check a live supplier connection.
Before you start
TripBuilder has two environments. Pick the right one before you book.
Environment | What it is for | Bookings with suppliers | Payments |
Test (staging) | Trying out flows, settings and new features | Test or sandbox connections where the supplier offers one | Pay by invoice, or your own company credit card to test the credit card flow |
Production | Checking a live supplier connection before go-live | Real bookings, which may cost money if not cancelled in time | Real payments |
Have these ready:
Your login for the staging environment (ask your Customer Operations Manager if you don't have one)
Test traveller details, for example first name "Test" and last name "Booking", and an email address you can access
A payment method for checkout: use pay by invoice, or your own company credit card if you want to test the credit card payment flow
A travel date at least a few weeks ahead, so components with free cancellation are available
Step by step
Open your staging environment. Log in to your TripBuilder instance on the staging environment and open the planner, or start from one of your templates.
Plan the trip. Add the components you want to test, for example a hotel, a flight, a transfer or an activity. Choose offers with free cancellation wherever possible.
Check the prices and conditions. Before checkout, review the total price, the price per person and the cancellation conditions of each component.
Go to checkout. Enter the test traveller details. Use your own email address so you receive the confirmation.
Pay or submit the booking. Choose pay by invoice. If you want to test the credit card payment flow, use your own company credit card. If you use booking requests, submit the request instead.
Check the confirmation. Make sure you receive the confirmation email and that the travel documents and vouchers show the right components, dates and prices.
Find the booking in Customer Care. Open Customer Care in the Cockpit and search for the booking. Check that every component has the status Booked. If a component failed, note the booking reference.
Cancel the booking. Cancel the whole booking in Customer Care and check that all components change to Cancelled and that you receive the cancellation email.
Note your results. Write down the booking reference, what worked and anything that looked wrong, so you can share it with us.
Test bookings on production
Every booking on production is a real booking. It is sent to the supplier and counts towards your booking volume, even if it was only meant as a test. The one exception is the onboarding phase: until your go-live, test bookings on production don't count towards your booking volume.
If you need to test on production:
Agree on it with your Customer Operations Manager first.
Only book components with free cancellation and cancel the booking straight away after testing.
Share the booking references of all test bookings with your Customer Operations Manager before go-live, so we can exclude them from your booking volume.
After go-live, every booking on production counts towards your booking volume, including test bookings.
Tips and FAQ
Why don't I see any offers for a supplier on the staging environment? Some suppliers have no test connection, or only offer limited content in their test system. Ask your Customer Operations Manager which suppliers you can test on staging.
A component failed during booking. What now? Note the booking reference and the component, then contact our support team. Please don't book again with the same details until we have checked it.
Can I test a booking change? Yes. Before you cancel in step 8, change the booking in Customer Care, for example the travel date or a hotel, and check the updated confirmation.
Need help? Contact our support team through the Help Center and include the booking reference, the environment (test or production) and a screenshot if possible.
