How activities are displayed

Each stop in the itinerary can show activity recommendation tiles — compact cards highlighting popular activities at that destination. Each tile displays:

  • Activity name

  • A thumbnail image

  • Duration

  • A short description

If the template has pre-configured activity recommendations, these tiles appear automatically on the relevant stop cards.

Selecting activities

Users can add an activity to their itinerary by clicking a recommendation tile. When selected:

  • The activity is added to that stop in the itinerary.

  • The trip price updates to include the activity cost.

  • The selected activity tile changes to a "selected" state with an option to remove it.

Users can select multiple activities per stop.

Browsing more activities (Activity Drawer)

For stops with more activities available than the initial recommendation tiles show, users can click "More options" to open the Activity Drawer. This side panel displays a broader selection of activities for that stop, including:

  • Full activity cards with images, descriptions, and pricing

  • The ability to scroll through all available activities

  • Select/deselect activities from within the drawer

Selecting an activity from the drawer adds it to the itinerary and updates pricing. The drawer can be closed to return to the main planner view.

Activity upgrades

For selected activities that offer multiple tiers or options (e.g., group tour vs. private tour, half-day vs. full-day), users can use dropdown selectors on the activity card to switch between available variants. The price difference is shown for each option.

Transit activities

Transit activities are activities that take place between stops — for example, a scenic drive or a lunch stop during the journey from one destination to another. In Smart Planner, these appear as cards between stops rather than within a stop card.

Transit activities display the same information as regular activities (name, image, price, duration) but are visually positioned along the route between destinations to indicate they happen during travel.

They also have a customise button to select the different service categories and options.

For administrators

Activity display in Smart Planner relies on:

  • Active activity suppliers — ensure your activity providers are configured and returning availability.

  • Template recommendations — activity recommendations configured on your templates determine which tiles appear by default. The same recommendation setup used for the legacy planner applies.

No additional Smart Planner-specific configuration is needed for activities beyond the standard supplier and template setup.
