Overview
Early Booker Discount allows you to automatically apply a percentage discount to group tour bookings made a specified number of months before the departure date.
This incentivizes early bookings while requiring minimal manual pricing adjustments.
How It Works
The discount applies to the sales price of the group tour at checkout, based on:
Number of months between booking date and departure date
Discount percentage you configure
Works only when price amendments have been added to Group Tour Departure dates
Example: Configure a 10% discount for bookings made 6+ months in advance. A customer booking in January for a July departure receives 10% off the total price automatically.
Important Early Booker Discount on template level only works on Group Tour templates in combination with configured Price Override on departure dates. |
Configuration Steps
1. Enable Early Booker Discount on Template
Navigate to your Group Tour Template settings:
Open the template in TripBuilder
Go to Group Tour Settings
Locate Early Booker Discount section
Enable the feature
Configure your discount rules:
Months in Advance: Minimum months before departure to qualify (e.g.,
Discount Percentage: Percentage to discount from total price (e.g., 10%)
2. Works Only with Price Amendments
Early Booker Discount calculates on the sales price after price amendments are applied:
Price amendment set
Early Booker Discount percentage applies to the total
Customer sees the discounted total at checkout
Calculation Example:
Base price per PAX (from price amendment): €1,000
Booking: 2 PAX = €2,000 total
Early Booker Discount (10%): -€200
Final price: €1,800
Important Notes
Discount Applies to Sales Price
The discount calculates on the sales price (what customers pay), not the net price .
Booking Date vs. Departure Date
The system uses the booking creation date to determine eligibility. If a customer books 6 months before departure, they receive the discount even if they modify the booking later.
Combining with Other Discounts
Early Booker Discount:

✅ Works with promo codes (applied sequentially)
✅ Works with tour operator surcharges
Customer Communication
The discount appears as a separate line item at checkout showing:
"Early Booker Discount (10%)"
Amount deducted from total
This transparency helps customers understand the value of booking early.
