In-Destination Cost Details

Written by Product Management

If enabled, then the sidebar of the planner and checkout will show a “unfold” action of the in-destination costs item. When unfolded, the separate in-destination cost items will be listed.

If disabled, the in-destination costs are still shown, but not the action to show the single cost items.

Such in-destination costs typically occur in the context of third-party suppliers such as bed banks or rental car providers. If there are cost items related to a hotel of Expedia, then this feature flag is ignored and the details are always shown (requirement of Expedia certification).

Rental-car equipment pricing can include a defined quantity allowance, so only equipment units beyond the included allowance are charged as in-destination cost items.

When supplier data includes quantity-limited rental-car equipment, cost details can show which units are included in the package and which additional units are paid. For example, an Alamo package can include one child seat and one ski rack, while additional child seats or ski racks are charged separately.

Rental car exclusions in Travel Documentation and Travel Registration

When a selected rental car contains exclusion items, Travel Documentation and Travel Registration display those exclusions. Examples include one-way fees, young driver surcharges, deposit requirements, and similar rental-car terms returned by the supplier or configured for the rental car. The exclusion section is shown only when exclusions exist for the selected rental car.

Rental-car equipment is not necessarily either fully included or fully excluded. Some supplier equipment entries include a base allowance plus paid additional units, and TripBuilder calculates charges only for quantities beyond the included allowance.
