Overview

The Content Rule feature conditions supply offers according to business needs and alignment. Defined as individual rule sets, content rules determine which offers should be included/excluded from accommodation or transportation results in the Planner.

Steps to set content rules

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Click on Content Rules (under the Supply menu).

  3. Click on Create New Rule for your preferred product type:

    • Accommodation

    • Transportation

Enter the following information:

  • Add a Rule Name

  • Select a Distribution Channel

    • All or a specific one

  • Select a Use Case

    • All

    • Instantiation

    • Planning

  • Select the User Type

    • All

    • Agent (any logged-in user, Agent or Tour Operator)

    • Consumer (B2C end-user, traveller)

  • Select a Supplier

    • Inventory

    • BedBanks

  • Define a Rule Definition:

Rule Definition

Description

Rule Definition

Hotel Filter

Defines specific hotels

  • Enter the hotel name or city to identify a hotel

  • You can add several hotels in the same rule definition

  • Type: Exclude or Include

Area Filter

Defines specific areas/cities

  • Enter the city name

  • Type: Exclude or Include

User Rating

Identifies the range of user ratings to be considered and the behaviour for properties without a user rating

  • Enter the Min/Max rating (number)

  • Enable/disable the Include properties without rating option

Important remark: The rating interval is defined by a numeric value (decimals allowed) between 0 and 5. Ratings provided by external tools are normalised by proportion into the numeric scale, being then able to be used together.

This rule definition is only available for BedBanks accommodations.

Country Filter

Defines specific countries

  • Enter the country name

  • You can add several countries in the same rule definition

  • Type: Exclude or Include

Hotel Stars

Identifies the range of hotel stars to be considered and the behaviour of properties without a star classification

  • Enter Min/Max Rating (number)

  • Enable/disable the Include properties without rating option

Supplier Filter

Defines the supply type to be considered

  • Select Inventory or BedBanks in the Supplier field

  • Type: Exclude or Include

Cancellation Filter

Filter out hotels based on whether they have no free cancellation and/or whether they don't provide any cancellation information.

  • Exclusion Rules

    • No Free Cancellation

    • No Cancellation Info

Important remark: The filter isn't a guarantee that it'll only show hotels with a free cancellation option, as this relies on the information provided by the supplier.

At the same time, filtering out “free cancellation hotels” doesn’t mean the free cancellation option will be available indefinitely. Some hotels offer the option of free cancellation until a certain number of days before the check-in.

The + button allows the combination of several conditions inside a single rule definition. When adding a combination of conditions into one rule, these are displayed with the AND label, shown in the example below.

Note: The combination of several conditions into one rule definition doesn't mean that all conditions need to be applied simultaneously. The conditions are independent of each other and are applied individually.

After defining your new content rule, click Save. To enable the rule, check the Enabled checkbox. To delete the rule, click the bin icon.

Examples

  1. Allow only a specific star rating for BedBanks offers.

    • In the Rule Definition, select the Hotel Stars option with min 3 and a max 5-star rating.

  2. Filter out hotels based on whether they have no free cancellation and/or whether they don't provide any cancellation information.

Rule Definition

Supplier

Maximum Stopovers

The maximum number of flight stops per segment

  • Enter the max number of stops per segment. Use a value of "0" to search for non-stop flights.

AERTiCKET and SoftConEx

The maximum flight layover duration per segment

  • Enter the max layover (in hours)

AERTiCKET and SoftConEx

Carriers

Defines which carriers should be included or excluded in the search results

  • Enter the carrier code

  • You can add several carrier codes in the same rule definition

  • Type: Include or Exclude

AERTiCKET and SoftConEx

Require Hold Baggage

Indicates whether a flight request should search for fares where, at minimum, one piece of hold baggage is included in the fare price

AERTiCKET and SoftConEx

Duplicate Fares

If defined, duplicated fares will be filtered out

A duplicated fare is when two flights have the same flight numbers, departure times, and arrival times on all flight legs. Out of all the duplicated flights, the cheapest flight is returned

AERTiCKET and SoftConEx

TOP fares only cut-off

If the return date (i.e. the departure date of the INBOUND segment) is more than the configured number of months in the future, then TripBuilder will only search for Tour Operator (TOP) fares.

Example: Assuming a return date of 10 months in the future and a "TOP fares only cut-off" date of 8 months, then only the TOP fare is used when searching for flight offers - all other configured fare types will be ignored.

  • Enter the cut-off return date (in months)

AERTiCKET and SoftConEx

Fare Type

Displays a list of multiple fare types used when querying the external provider. Published/Nego and Net fare types are always selected

TOP (Tour Operator) or LOW (LowCost) can additionally be configured

Please note: LOW for AERTiCKET is not returning any additional results. The AERTiCKET integration is currently being extended to support this.

  • Select the fare types: TOP or LOW

AERTiCKET and SoftConEx

Allow Airport Change

Indicates whether the searched fares should allow for an airport change

If enabled, this rule will allow searching for fares that arrive, for example, in CDG airport and depart from ORY airport

  • Enable or disable

AERTiCKET and SoftConEx

The + button allows the combination of several conditions inside a single rule definition. When adding a combination of conditions into one rule, these are displayed with the AND label, shown in the example below.

Example

Exclude a specific airline from a connected supplier, for example, Aerticket:

  • In the Rule Definition, select the Carriers option and enter the carrier code of the airline you want to exclude. "U2" is the carrier code for easyJet.

    Screenshot 2025-02-07 at 15.28.04.png

  • In the Planner, in the transportation search, the flight results won't display the excluded carrier (easyJet).
