Overview

The Transports search screen in the Planner provides search and filter functionalities to help you find the most suitable transportation options for your trip.

Mandatory Search Fields

The Departure field is mandatory and always present during a transport search. While other fields can be customised, the Departure field is not configurable, as changing its logic would compromise the feature's functionality.

Upon user input, the Departure field will automatically select relevant areas and/or airports.

Airport Location

An airport can be identified by its name or the corresponding IATA code.

By default, TripBuilder allows the selection of a single departure airport. However, a configuration option exists to select up to three departure airports when searching for flights.

Important:

To enable this feature, Nezasa must configure it.

Please contact our support team or your Customer Success Manager to activate the feature flag available in Distribution Channel > Planner tab > Product-Specific Configurations > Transports > Transport Search and Filtering > Searching with multiple airports enabled.

Area Location

Flight searches can also be performed using geographic areas associated with an IATA Metropolitan Code. This option considers all airports linked to the metropolitan code rather than selecting individual airport IATA codes. For example, searching for London (IATA Metropolitan code LON) includes the following airports:

  • London City Airport (LCY)

  • Gatwick Airport (LGW)

  • Heathrow Airport (LHR)

  • Luton Airport (LTN)

  • Stansted Airport (STN)

Know more:

Please refer to our Area Management article for more information on assigning an IATA Metropolitan Code to an area.

Configurable Transport Search Fields and Filters

To configure filters, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Click on Distribution Channels.

  3. Click on your TripBuilder ID.

  4. Go to the Planner tab and scroll to Transport Search and Filtering.

Here, you can set up flight classes and enable/disable filters. The positioning order in Planner is defined by numerical ordering.

Note: Transportation filters apply to both inventory and live supply transports.

Class Filter

The Class filter configuration determines which class options can be selected from the drop-down menu.

Note: Currently, this filter is only available for SoftConEx and AERTiCKET integrations. It does not apply to inventory transports.

Price, Maximum Travel Time, Maximum Layover, Carrier, Stops and Times Filters

In Settings, you can choose which of the following filters to enable and their display order in the Planner:

  • Price

  • Maximum Travel Time

  • Maximum Layover Time

  • Carrier

  • Stops: Any number of stops (default), Direct, Max. 1 stop or Max. 2 stops.

  • Times

Connection Filter

This filter allows you to refine transport selection by using one transportation leg as the basis for the search, thus narrowing the offer scope based on the chosen leg.

Multi-Airport Searches

Not all flight providers support multi-airport searches that is why there are two settings to control it: one for the start/end location that the user can enter, and one for the airports coming from areas.

The settings are located at Settings → Distribution Channel → Planner → Transport Searches.

Searching with multiple airports enabled

UI Feature: Allows users to manually select multiple departure airports in the flight search interface.

Note: For supplier compatibility, enable "Use best airport for flight search" below.

Use best airport for flight search

Backend Feature: Automatically selects the optimal airport when sending requests to flight suppliers.

Purpose: Prevents search failures with suppliers (e.g., AerticketHub) that don't support multi-airport searches.

Algorithm: Metropolitan code (if in metro area) → Major airport → Same country → Closest distance.

Default: Disabled for backward compatibility. Will become default after validation.

How to Perform Individual Searches

Important:

This feature requires activation by Nezasa. Please contact our support team or your Customer Success Manager to enable the feature flag available at Distribution Channel > Nezasa-Only tab > Transfers and Transport (Flight, Train, Bus) > Transport: individual vs grouped searches for transport.

If your itinerary includes multiple stops, you can search for transport for a single leg instead of getting results for the entire trip (all legs). Enabling this feature will display a checkbox in the Transports step in Planner, where you can select the specific connection for an individual search.

Transport Selection Impacting Itinerary Dates

Selecting long-haul transportation may affect your itinerary's start and end dates. Depending on the transport option selected, travel dates may be automatically adjusted.

Example Scenario

Consider an itinerary set to begin on June 30th and end on July 15th, and you select a specific transport option with the following details:

  • Inbound Flight: Departs on June 29th and arrives on June 30th

  • Outbound Flight: Departs on July 15th and arrives on July 16th

This flight selection will automatically update the itinerary dates as follows:

  • Start Date: June 29th

  • End Date: July 16th

A warning message will notify about the change on the start and end dates, ensuring you are aware of itinerary adjustments.
