Overview

On TripBuilder’s Discovery Overview, you can have non-predefined filter options as Advanced Filters. This flexibility is provided by tags that allow you to create flexible, additional filters. Once created, tags can be shared and applied to any template.

Know more:

Please check the article Discovery Advanced Filters for additional information about other filters that can be applied, enabled, or disabled, and their positioning in Discovery Overview.

Applying Tag Filtering in Planner

Unlike the other advanced filters in Discovery, tag filters enable the dynamic creation of one or more filtering fields based on their setup. This means that instead of a single "Filter by tag" field, you can define the semantics, name and logic for each tag-based filter.

For example, in the following screenshot, the tag filter By Difficulty level could filter itineraries according to the traveller's physical demand: easy, medium, and hard.

By selecting one tag in the filter field, all templates classified with that tag will be shown in the results. A template with multiple tags will appear in the results if at least one of its tags matches the filter field. Consider the following scenario:

By selecting one tag in the filter field, all templates classified with it will be presented as results. A template with multiple tags will be presented if at least one of its tags is present in the filter field. As an example, let us consider the following scenario:

  • Template_1 classified with tag_A

  • Template_2 classified with tag_B, tag_C and tag_D

  • Template_3 classified with tag_A and tag_D

How to Set Up Tag Filtering

Tags enable additional filters to be created for Discovery Overview. The steps below explain how to create a customised filter. Multiple filters can be created this way.

Configure Tag Filters

Tag filters are set up per Distribution Channel through the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click on Distribution Channels

  3. Click on your TripBuilder ID

  4. Click on the Discovery tab

  5. Scroll to the Filters section, part of the Discovery Overview / Trip Search

  6. At the end of the list, find the Tag filters

  7. Click on the Add new tag filter link to create and configure a new tag filter

Note: Clicking the Add new tag filter multiple times will create new, independent tag filters.

Each tag filter consists of the following fields:

  • Label: The filter's display name in Discovery Overview, supporting multiple languages. Example: Difficulty level (in English).

  • Tag prefix: Filter values must share a common prefix defined here. Example: difficulty_. This identifies relevant tags (e.g., difficulty_easy, difficulty_medium, difficulty_hard).

  • Positioning: Determines the UI order for the filters. Lower position priority filters appear first. If two filters share the same position priority, alphabetic ordering is used.

Configuration settings include:

An action label, Remove Filter, deletes the selected filter.

8. Fill in the input data and configuration settings

9. Click Save in the top right corner

Assign Tags to Templates

Tags must be assigned to templates to be used in filtering. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Inventory

  2. Expand Package Builder

  3. Click on Itinerary Templates

  4. From the list, select the intended template

  5. Click on Checkout & Open from the three-dot button at the top right

  6. In the template tabs, click on Tags

  7. Confirm that the tag(s) you want to associate with the template are available by typing them in the Search and add tags box (tags of this Template section). If the tag exists, select it from the options. If not, create a new tag.

    Note:

    • Multiple tags can be associated with the same template.

    • Tags, once created, are available to all templates. It is not relevant the template in which context a tag was initially created.

    • Recall to follow the naming convention for the tag prefix (i.e. field Tag prefix as explained in the previous section Configure Tag Filters, in step 7). If there is a mismatch in the tag prefix, template tags will not be considered in template filtering.

  8. Click Save at the top right of the screen

  9. Publish the template from the three-dot button at the top right

  10. Tags associated with templates are processed automatically. To make new tags available sooner, click the Click here link.

Click here to trigger an explicit refresh.png

If the user at Discovery Overview selects the tag difficulty_easy, the template previously classified will appear in the results.

Important: The translation UI for dynamic tags handling has not yet been released. However, our support team can do that for you. Simply send the list of tags with the required customer facing label (and its translations if required) to us, and we configure it for you.

Preferred Tags

TripBuilder allows you to control the default ordering of templates on the Discovery Overview page when no filters are applied. This configuration is set up per Distribution Channel through the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click on Distribution Channels

  3. Click on your TripBuilder ID

  4. Click on the Discovery tab

  5. Navigate to the Search Results section

  6. Identify the Tags for Default Template Sorting field

  7. To prioritise templates, add their associated tags to this field. If multiple tags are used, their priority is determined by the frequency of their occurrence, which helps resolve any ambiguities.

  8. For example, if the tag top is configured as the default preferred tag and it's associated with a template...

  9. ...this template will appear at the top of the results when no filters are applied.

Know more: Considering the configuration top, top, top, seasonhighlight, seasonhighlight, bestseller

  • templates tagged with "top" will appear first,

  • followed by those with "seasonhighlight",

  • then "bestseller",

  • and finally, all other templates.
